So what is the Seafood Training Centre? |
The Seafood Training Centre of Excellence Inc is an incorporated association that was established in May 2006. The Board of Directors comprises a majority of seafood industry members and is supported by an Executive Officer. |
| Why was the Seafood Training Centre established? |
| The Seafood Industry wanted to have a greater say on the type of training that should be funded, the standard and quality of the training and how the training is delivered to its workers. |
In the broadest sense the industry wanted greater control of and involvement with the training arrangements where they can determine training priorities and evaluate whether the training is beneficial to industry. |

What does the Seafood Training Centre do? |
The Seafood training Centre develops an annual seafood training plan that identifies priorities for the allocation of Government training funds for vocational education and training courses in South Australia to meet the training needs of the seafood industry. |
It provides training funds of approximately $1.4 million each year to registered training organisations for the delivery of that training.
The Centre seeks advice from all sectors of the seafood industry on the type, standard and delivery of the training required and works with training providers to ensure the delivery of that training. |
| It also seeks other sources of funding for seafood training and workforce projects in South Australia. |
